We love Gulf of Mexico seafood: grilled, roasted, or fried. It has a fresh and sweet flavor that no imported catch can replicate.

A giant watershed system feeds the Gulf with freshwater and rain from thirty two states (and two Canadian provinces!). The mighty Mississippi River carries it all.

Once, this was a pristine ecosystem, but now it’s in jeopardy. Since the 1950s, water quality in the region has steadily deteriorated due to pollution from our cities and farms. An annual dead zone, caused by the glut of nutrients transported down the river which feed harmful algal blooms, removes oxygen from the Gulf and harms the coastal marine habitat.

Let’s change that. With your every purchase of a sustainably caught and packaged Run Aground product, we’re working in the Gulf’s watershed with cities, farmers, ranchers, developers, and landowners of all means. We’re using 20% of pre-tax profits to install nutrient-trapping buffer strips at the edge of farm fields, to plant native vegetation which prevents erosion on residential and commercial properties, and to build stormwater treatment structures in cities. We’re doing everything that helps the quality of water where our next meal swims and supports local harvesters.
